A Bengaluru resident claims to have busted a Flipkart scam. He was almost scammed by a man who pretended to be a Flipkart delivery partner and tried to deliver a box claiming it to be an iPhone 15. As per the resident, the guy persuaded him to accept the package saying that it was an iPhone 15 that he ordered from Flipkart.
As per the Reddit post, the resident’s sister had purchased an iPhone 15 during the Flipkart sale and had opted for an open-box delivery. E-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon provide the “open-box” delivery option where the customer can open the package and verify the product before accepting the order. This ensures that the customer is not getting any damaged or duplicate goods instead of the high-end products they have ordered.
The scammer showed up with the package and asked the customer to accept it. When the resident insisted on opening and checking the content in the box the guy refused which prompted the man to start recording the whole incident. Upon realizing he was being filmed, the scammer quickly fled the scene.
The Bengaluru resident has posted the entire incident on Reddit. He wrote: “My sister bought an iPhone 15 with VIP on the Flipkart sale, it was an open box delivery. This loser (a guy in white) came with a big package to deliver claiming that he couldn’t do an ‘open box delivery’. We have to accept it as is. I refused. He called some random people and they said there was no facility like that.
He was scared shitless because I recorded all this. Telling his partners in crime in Kannada that I have recorded everything and all. I did not accept the package. Within two minutes another guy came to deliver a very small package and said that he would open the box before delivering it. We got the product because I recorded everything, otherwise, I am sure he would have given me some random package.”
The incident has sparked significant outrage among netizens regarding the subpar service and accountability of such marketing platforms and this has opened a discussion on customer rights and corporate responsibility.
